Aditya Hridayam is an ancient Sanskrit hymn to Lord Surya (Sun God) from Valmiki Ramayana. The sage Agastya taught it to Sri Ram before his battle with Ravana to grant him divine energy and victory.
Aditya Hridayam should be ideally recited at sunrise, facing the Sun (East direction). Sunday is the most auspicious day. Reciting it 3 times is traditional as mentioned in the text.
It destroys all enemies, removes all sins, brings health and longevity, ensures victory in all endeavors, eliminates grief and anxiety, and grants divine energy. It is said to be equivalent to performing a Yagna (fire sacrifice).
