'Om Namo Narayanaya' is the Ashtakshara (8-syllable) mantra of Lord Vishnu. It means 'I bow to Lord Narayana.' It is one of the most sacred mantras in Vaishnavism.
This is the 12-syllable (Dwadashakshara) mantra of Lord Vishnu. 'Vasudeva' is another name of Krishna/Vishnu. This mantra, found in the Bhagavata Purana, grants liberation.
Thursday (Guruvar) and Ekadashi (11th lunar day) are the most auspicious times. Vishnu mantras are also chanted during Diwali, Janmashtami, and in the morning during Brahma Muhurta.
