The legendary singer Vani Jairam sang this prayer for the 1971 Hrishikesh Mukherjee film 'Guddi'. The lyrics were written by Gulzar and the music was composed by Vasant Desai.
It means 'Before seeking victory over others [the world], let us seek victory over ourselves [our mind, ego, and weaknesses].'
