Havan (also called Yagna/Yajna/Homam) is a sacred fire ritual where offerings like ghee, grains, and herbs are offered into a sanctified fire while chanting Vedic mantras. It is one of the oldest religious rituals in Hinduism.
Havan can be performed daily (for spiritually advanced practitioners), weekly, monthly, or on special occasions. It is especially recommended during Navratri, Diwali, house-warming (Griha Pravesh), and solar/lunar eclipses.
Mango wood (Aam ki lakdi) is the primary wood used in Havan as it is considered sacred. Other options include Peepal, Shami, Ashwattha, and Palash. Never use wood from thorny or milk-secreting trees.
