Bhairav Chalisa (भैरव चालीसा) is a powerful 40-verse hymn dedicated to Lord Bhairav — the fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva as the master of time. Lord Bhairav is the guardian deity of Kashi (Varanasi). He rules Saturday and is the destroyer of evil, fear, and all negative forces.

Lord Bhairav is worshipped on Saturdays (his special day), on Bhairav Ashtami, and during Navratri. Kashi Bhairav temple in Varanasi is the most famous Bhairav shrine.
